39 – Okocim Beer

hdh39_okocim

My first review back after teaspoon’s arrival so I thought that since non-Irish people are wrapping up pretending to be a nationality that I would actually celebrate part of mine, the Polish side.

Okocim Beer
brewery:
Browar Okocim S.A. - www.okocim.pl
style:
Pilsner
abv:
5.5%
serving size:
500ml (16.9oz)
glass used:
pilsner
price: $3.50

Overview
Purchased at 3 Sons Dogs n Suds. Since I can’t translate Polish that’s about all you’re getting.

What I think
I’m slowly converting over to a Pilsner fan and this reinforces it. The head poured robust but disappeared rather quickly. The aroma was a typical pils where those unfamiliar would think it was stale beer. The taste was smoother than Billy Dee Williams’ moves on some fine ladies. One thing that really impressed me was the potential for beer porn if I had a better camera. Pristine golden hue and ivory white head makes this a photographers ideal candidate.

Spoon’s rating: B+

I love Euro Pilsners. They do them better than anyone – including what we’re attempting to brew in the states. We’re not quite there yet, but we haven’t been brewing them for 1000 years either.

Have not tried this, or seen it for that matter. BUT it will be on my list of Pils to try.

    Great update, my friend. Salud!

It was uncannily smooth. I may have to make this my session beer at 3 sons.

I am a huge pilsner fan. I need to get my hands on more of them. I will be looking for this one in my neck of the woods.

    ciao,

I was pleasantly surprised with this one. If you cant find it there is always a trip north to Wexford :)
