Thanks Phil!

I learned about Oktoberfest beers and the true style at Beer School from my co-host. This was one of the rare ones this season that I've really liked. Next week will be interesting also :)

Nicely done, Doug.

Bavarian breweries like Erdinger establish the measuring stick upon which all Gerrman varieties of beer should always be measured. They've been making them longer and better than anyone in the world. I've had this beer and it's a true Bavarian hefe, which still seems new to a lot of people, oddly enough. That sticky banana/clove/bubblegum flavor and aroma is testament to the simple fact that the right ingredients (especially yeast) were used to make the beer. I would love to see more American microbreweries produce Hefeweizens like this.

I love Oktoberfest season - it brings out all of the great German classics.
